Pressure-Volume Relationships in the Lung - Section 2 of 6

Highlights: Using a spirometer to investigate Lung Capacity, Compliance and Respiratory Pressure-Volume Graphs
Abstract: Section 2 of the Physics of the Respiratory System Module begins with a study of lung volume, lung capacity and the use of a spirometer. Students will use the Lung Model (from Section 1) and a spirometer to measure the volume of air flowing in and out of the lung model as compared to pressure differences between the lung and pleural cavity during tidal breathing. This section includes learning objectives with matched assessment questions, reading and writing in the curriculum, and a hands-on activity. The curriculum reviews and expands upon introductory physics content.
