IMPLEMENTATION
Equipment required: Computers / software
Basic implementation tips & tricks: Sample Canvas assignments (exported as QTI .zip files) developed from the corresponding BMP curriculum TEXT and AQ can be imported into instructors’ Learning Management System (LMS) and edited for formative and summative assessment per instructors’ needs. Please contact your institutional eLearning administrator for additional support or refer to Canvas Instructor Guide, https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-import-quizzes-from-QTI-packages/ta-p/1046
How does this resource fit into the flow of your course? Instructors can use these QTi files as Pre-class work, In-class work, or Assessment in Homework/Quizzes. Files provide an easy way to implement student work online.
PEDAGOGY
Pedagogical approach: Peer Instruction / Think-Pair-Share; Collaborative problem-solving; Conceptually-oriented activities; Context-rich problems; Guided inquiry
Skills / Competencies: Multiple representations; Intuition building; Evaluating models; Analyzing experimental data; Applying physical principles; Interdisciplinarity
What insights or realizations do you hope students gain from this resource? This resource will allow instructors to easily import material from BMP Chapter 2 - Forces in the Human Body into their Learning Management Systems (LMS). Instructors can open resource in their LMS and adapt to fit their instructional needs. Material can be used as Pre-Class Work, In-Class Work or Formative/Summative Assessment for Homework and Quizzes.
Why is this resource useful to life sciences students? Biomedically-Relevant Physics (BMP) Introductory Physics Curriculum Chapter 2 focuses on forces in the human body. QTI files are developed from the TEXT, LA and AQ for easy implementation/assessment in a Learning Management System. Questions are designed to encourage students to apply, evaluate and synthesize the content used in BMP Forces in the Human Body Chapter.
