Highlights: A homework problem with solution concerning the Boltzmann factor and probabilities that require students to interpret graphs physically.
Abstract: This unit contains 1 homework problems about the probability of opening an ion channel in a membrane due to thermal fluctuations. It includes an useful graph problem that requires physically interpreting the parametric dependence of an exponential. The problem is presented in two forms: as PDF with solutions and access restricted to instructors, and as a link to the ComPADRE version that can be assigned to students. The problem is also available in an autograded commercial version (ExpertTA).
