Highlights: A visually stimulating kinesthetic model of the human circulatory system that promotes student discussion.
Abstract: This affordable, easy to assemble, visually stimulating model of the human circulatory system demonstrates basic concepts of fluid dynamics at the system level. The demonstration primarily shows conservation of mass and Poiseuille’s law. Importantly, this model does NOT demonstrate the Bernoulli principle, although students are expected to predict that it will. Ideal for the introductory class at the end of the fluids chapter. This activity includes opportunities for predictions, group discussions, mathematical examples, and a measurement/lab activity. Provides the opportunity to demonstrate pathophysiology as well.
